Small Claims Court is one of the busiest courts in Ontario for civil disputes. This is the court that allows individuals to take action against contracts being broken, or for monies owed, property being damaged, breach of contract, personal injury, and other damages and losses or monies owed to you.
Starting in January 2020, the maximum amount that a personal can claim for damages and financial losses will be $35,000.00.

When someone brings forth a claim for damages in Small Claims Court, it may be for either liquidated damages or unliquidated damages, or both. Liquidated damages are for the set amounts owed due to a contract being broken, a loan that was never paid, or an invoice that was not paid.
